Level 5–8 Program: Labo II

This advanced course (levels 5 to 8), called Labo II, continues the progression started in Labo I. With returning participants from the first trimester and those who have completed the two TSD introduction workshops (January 17 & 24), Pierre will go further into the development of his Transformative Social Dance (TSD) method. This transversal pedagogy is structured around a few core pillars: Musicality, Physical Organization, Connection Systems, and Cultural Analysis.

Pierre’s goal is to offer participants a toolbox they can rely on for many years, enabling a richer and more curious journey through folk and social dance.
This is not a repertoire or figures-based class, but an exploratory proposition for adventurous dancers at intermediate, advanced, and very advanced levels.

Prerequisites
To join this advanced class, you should already know the basic steps of most common folk dances. But even more important is the willingness to question what you know and to explore the unknown rather than reinforcing habits. That’s the Labo spirit!

To join Labo II:
Have completed the first trimester (Labo I), or attend the two TSD introduction workshops on January 17 & 24 in Brussels, or contact Pierre for private lesson catch-up.

3 little bonuses

  • Every second Tuesday you can continue with the Practica at Pianofabriek!
  • The other Tuesdays you can join Pierre’s repertoire class '10 km of bourrée' right after Labo II, in the same room.
  • Can’t choose between your current course and Pierre’s? Follow both with the special combo discount!

Pierre Chesneau & new pedagogical tools
Former resident teacher at the school, Pierre accompanies us for a full year with an ambitious project: turning 15 years of experience in folk and tango teaching into a completely renewed pedagogical method.

Pierre grew up in the European folk scene – from major festivals like Gennetines to more intimate events – and has contributed to its development for 25 years as a dancer and teacher. After stepping back for a couple of years, he returns with a holistic approach built around four core pillars: movement dynamics, creative musicality, the social function of dances, and dance as a tool for personal growth.
This systemic method (TSD) aims at expanding bodily exploration and connection: to oneself, to others, and to the community.

Beyond weekly classes, Pierre will continue developing long-term pedagogical tools for a wider audience, and participants of the Labo will be the first to benefit from them!
